Unfortunately, MRUFC have lost another Old Boy and Club stalwart.
John Blott, aged 86, died of kidney failure in James Cook Hospital. John had been ill for some years, with heart problems and severe diabetes. The latter caused a leg amputation a couple of years ago, which kept him house bound.
A life long member and supporter of MRUFC, both as a player and working with Dave Storey as joint ‘entertainments and fund-raising secretary’. Dave reflected, “Older members will remember the large BBQs that we ran at Burgess’s farm. At the time this sort of event was quite innovative and they were great social events as well as raising lots of money for the rugby club.”
Our thoughts are with his wife Joan, sister Margaret and the rest of the family. RIP old friend.
John’s funeral will at 11:00 am on Tuesday 3 February, with mourners invited back to Acklam Park Club afterwards.
