Under youth rugby regulations, parents and spectators are strictly prohibited from entering the filed of play during a match or a training session unless they have explicit permission or have been asked to do so by the referee or the relevant coach.
Discipline on the pitch is the sole responsibility of the match officials. No adult, including parents, guardians, or team managers, may set foot on the grass without the referee’s direct authorization.
Even when a child is injured, parents must remain off the pitch. Coaches and match officials are specifically trained to handle medical situations. A parent should only enter the field if the coach or referee explicitly calls them over to assist.
Violating these rules can result in formal disciplinary action. Governing bodies and clubs retain the right to ban offending individuals from attending future matches or training sessions.
Parents must remain entirely outside the field of play, staying behind designated pitch barriers or within the specified spectator area.
Middlesbrough Rugby Club believe strongly in rugby’s core values that set and confirm healthy boundaries and manage spectator behaviour. This means a zero tolerance approach to encroachment. If during a game a parent experiences a frustrating incident or playing-time grievance, we ask also that you apply the 24-hour rule. Do not approach a referee or a coach until after 24-hours.
We thank you for the support. We understand that sometimes rugby gets passionate, but as adults we need to set the example.
Enjoy the game. Respect the game.
