One Hundred and Fifty years old, What a day, What a match, What a finish….
Middlesbrough RUFC 28 Percy Park 24
What an awesome day at Parc du Acklam, Congratulations to Harley Oxley and his U16 side and their victory in a tough game against PP, these young men are the future of our club and I believe it is in safe hands going forward.
Apologies if I get any of these facts mixed up as the sun was in my eyes, but here we go
The first score of the game came when PP had a series of pick and gos culminating in them crossing for a 7 pointer. 0-7
Boro came back almost straight away with a penalty from ever reliable Andrew Baggett 3-7
From the KO Boro mount an attack from inside their own 22 unfortunately the away side intercept and return it to score another 7. 3-14 (scoreboard malfunction at this time confused the heck out of everyone for a good hour)
A great pick and drive from No8 Toby Tremlett who passes to Josh  Josh Lynas and the Rhino powers over from at least 50 inches.
HT 8-14
Next comes a full length of the field try for the home team A long pass from skipper Pete Homan gets the ball to Lyno the Rhino who feeds Sean Joseph Moloney back inside to Alistair Lang and on to Jake Chalky Chalklen who’s five foot f### all frame takes him in to score, Andrew Baggett hits the 2 points and it’s 15-14
Another belter of a score as the ball is passed through lots of hands eventually finding its way to Harry Bryce to score con is good 22-14
Score for PP after a catch and drive 22-24 I know that we don’t award 10 points for a try but as I said scoreboard malfunction had us all a wee bit confused.
Approaching Squeaky Bum time, Andrew Baggett steadies the ship with 2 late penalty kicks making the final score Middlesbrough 28 Percy Park 24. Another Humdinger of a game very fitting of the occasion
Man of the Match was awarded to Lyno the Rhino, have you finished your Guinness yet, Josh?
Absolutely brilliant day at our club’s birthday party, thank you so much to all those who attended. 150th birthday wishes to Percy Park.
The first XV have a week off next week, the week after that we travel to our old friends and local rivals Stockton RFC (with pantomime season approaching Booooo Hiss) that’s November 26th with KO at 2:15 in the P M
