First away game of the season sees the lads travel up to old rivals Northern. In sweltering heat lads gave their all only to come up short against a very well drilled side.13 minutes in and our hosts are 12-0 up, then after 20 minutes our first away try comes after sustained pressure, Jack Mac sends a miss pass out to wing Rhys Kilbride who then pinballs off 3 defenders to score 12-5Skipper Pete Homan is then yellow carded for what no one from either set of supporters could see what the offence was.2 more tries for the hosts gives them a 24-5 lead at the break. The Boro pack are bossing the scrummage their ball our ball makes no difference, the push is on. I’ve never seen such a dominant side not get the rub of the green.Northern have a throw in to a lineout clearly not straight this is missed by the official and they score again 31-5.Aedan Moloney then scores for Boro, got some wheels that kid 31-10Our lads are giving their all but no decision is going their way we break and Brendan Hill scores out wide only to be disallowedNorthern finish the scoring with a try and their 6 gets a yellow card and probably sums up the day saying “These new rules are S***” as he left the fieldFinal score Northern FC 36 Boro 10Not our day but we will come back swinging as we always do, This side will get up and try again I have no doubt.Next week The Mighty Boro are at home against Cockermouth with a 3pm KO at Parc du Acklam
