Keswick Report

05th February 2023
admin

Yesterday saw us travel over to Cumbria for the final time this season, hoping to extend our winning run in the county.
The home side had requested an early kick off, so we set off from Middlesbrough at 8am.
Had a lovely ride on the coach through England’s green and pleasant land, arriving at our destination well in time for the noon kick off.
As in many matches in our league both teams went at it from the very first whistle attack defend, attack defend
Pressure from Boro led to the opening score when our Antipodean Pocket Rocket Jake Chalklen took a quick tap penalty and hurled himself over the line to score. Fly half Nathan Booth kicked the extras 0-7
Boro went on the attack again but, alas, as last week the curse of the interception occurred again letting the home side draw level 7-7
Against the run of play Keswick score again making the HT score 12-7
Middlesbrough tried all they could during the second stanza but they were only rewarded by a penalty kick from returning full back Charlie Bourne
A bizarre incident in the second half occurred when Boro No8 Adam Marron squared up to one of their forwards and despite neither throwing a punch, or any contact at all, they were both yellow carded.
Lots of endeavour left on the field by all concerned but no reward except a losing BP
Special mention to Matthew Marsay who performed well on his 1st XV debut, another one of the Tilson McNeill O’Boyle proteges to play for us.
Next week we are at home with a 2pm kick off
Ciao for Now
