We won the Yorkshire 1 league, the Candy League Cup final, and a home 3rd team fixture v Sedgefield.

What a great day at Acklam Park.
3 teams at home all won, a fantastic turn out by our minis and juniors, huge support and what a night of celebration!!!

A report here of the 1st team game by our own JCL

Yorkshire Division 1 Champions 2021-22 are Boro Baby!!!

In a week where we saw the passing of Club Legend Dave Waddington, our thoughts go out to his family. Our heroes in Maroon and Gold honoured Dave, Terry Wesson and Colin Hill’s memories with an outstanding performance to clinch the Yorkshire 1 title.

In a top of the table clash, Old Crossleyans (Crocs) visited a packed Parc du Acklam to decide who would win the leagues

Crocs started the game really well, playing down the slope, only to be kept out by solid Boro defence. The home team then lost Richard “Tarmac” Lonsdale to a knee injury, that saw him operated on at JCUH last night, all the best with your recovery mate.

This sparked Boro into attack and after 25 minutes the first try of the day was scored by the home team. Good quick ball was passed along the line to feed Jack McPhillips to score and with Andrew Baggett’s conversion we lead 7-0

Boro are in the ascendancy now and 5 minutes later a catch and drive from a lineout is steered over the line for Josh “Lyno the Rhino” Lynas to score, the conversion makes it 14-0 and that’s how we stay till half time.

The second half starts well for Boro with Baggy adding a penalty to keep the scoreboard ticking over 17-0

The Middlesbrough pack are scrummaging their hearts out and from one powerful surge the ball is sent out to the backs who put Pete Homan through for a score which is duly converted by Baggy 24-0

As is always in this league the opposition come out fighting and their never say die attitude sees them score a try out wide 24-5

Another good scrummage from the home forwards sees the ball fed out to Baggy whose dummy sends him through the gap to feed wing Brendan Hill to score our final points of the match, Baggy’s conversion from out wide hits the post and bounces out 29-5

Again Old Crocs hit back with a 7 pointer of their own making the final score Middlesbrough 29 Old Crossleyans 12.

Let the celebrations begin. In a nice touch the League Secretary attended the match and presented the Boro team with the trophy at the end of the game

Congratulations to the Wasps on winning their Cup Final and also to the A XV who won their fixture down the road at the Stadio Tollesby

A massive thank you to all those people who turned out to watch and support.

What a fantastic season this has been. Congratulations and thank you to all those who have, played, coached, organised, volunteered, supported, you and your efforts are all very much appreciated.
