Northallerton away

Tough game in tough conditions!

After recieveing a message on Thursday night asking if the A team wanted a game at Northallerton, we accepted, turned up on Saturday in strong winds and a heavy pitch due to copious amounts of rain in the previous 24hrs, both captains agreed a early ko to hopefully watch England v Scotland and hope that Ireland beat the Welsh (which didn't happen!!)
The game started, Both teams couldn't take control of possession, and however both teams showing some solid defence making a very even 20mins, then Middlesbrough moved in to next gear and pilled on pressure in the northallerton 22 and got really close to scoring a few times but couldn't finish or give the clinical pass, some of the older experienced Northallerton players
started to tire but still dug in and held the Boro boys out, 0-0. The 2nd half started with the same pressure from Middlesbrough, finally northallerton's defence gave way as Ross
Bishop scored in the corner after a good few phases by the whole Middlesbrough team, Last 20 mins of the game Boro seemed to be camped in our own 22, not having possession, last 10 mins we were camped on our 5 meter channel with Northallerton going sideways ruck after ruck, a few penalties were given away, Elderly Mike Kearney getting a warning, the clock already dead Northallerton elected
for a scrum to 5 meter, to be followed by more rucks
only seem to be going sideways, this time the ref blew
for a penalty to Northallerton with Mick at bottom
of ruck holding on to ball but laying wrong side- the
ref had no option to go for his pocket n show yellow,
another scrum another few phases for Northallerton
more rucks, but managed to over run a ruck, with
Jacob Unwin diving on ball to gather possession
for it to be kicked dead,
Full credit to Northallerton, not only on the pitch
where it was a very strong physical hard game,
but the hospitality post game, as we crawled back
to changing room a crate of beer n beer tokens
for bar awaited us, showing true spirit of social
rugby, a pleasure to of played against, Thanks
Northallerton rufc, Our mom voted by Northallerton was JP plenty of hand offs n lots of yards gained.
Our Dod has to be Mick Kearney.
My mom for us Jacob Unwin a smashing player with real talent, at every breakdown attack n defence, the club have a little gem in him and no doubt he will be a regular in 1st team in years to come!!
Well played all the team, defence was impeccable
throughout the game, credit to you all.
