Did not get the bounce of the ball or the rub of the green this afternoon at Acklam Park

The bounce of the ball, rub of the green were against the home team today as they competed extremely well with the runaway leaders at the top of Yorkshire 1.

Back to 3pm kick off the early exchanges were quite even with both teams trying to play open rugby despite the windy conditions.

It took 10 mins for the opening score of the game when our visitors broke through the Boro defence to score a converted try. 0-7.

Good play from both sides for the next 10 minutes and on 21 mins Moortown crossed again for a 5 pointer, conversion missed, 0-12

After sustained pressure and 3 penalties conceded by Moortown, Boro took a penalty kick at goal which was made by Jack Bircham 3-12

This was the end of the scoring in the first period HT 3-12

Just after the restart Moortown scored a converted try making the score now 3-19

Lesser teams would have crumbled, but not our heroes in Maroon and Gold who after a superb grubber kick from evergreen Andy Micklewright put the west Yorks team under pressure that culminated in back rower Liam Wilson scoring an unconverted try 8-19.

A comeback was looking on the cards but alas our visitors scored an unanswered 17 points closing the game out Middlesbrough 8 Moortown 36

Best team won but I am not sure the final score was a true tail of the efforts put in during the match.

Kieran Clark was named MOM by the opposition and very well deserved, wish we could get a bonus point for downing the pint of Guiness. Other stand out performers great to see Jack Bircham and Richard "Tarmac" Lonsdale back in the fold both gave their all as ever, My goodness how many young guns have we got in our squad Jamie "Big Hit" Watson, Myles "Gonna offer myself for the ball all day" Colvin, Elliott "Jabba played with me dad" Ward and many more to boot. Would like to give special mention to our Skipper and marauding centre Pete Homan who not only had another cracking game but also gave this writer a lift home too, talk about above and beyond...The Future's Bright The Future's Maroon and Gold...

Next weeks fixture is Away at Pontefract 3pm KO
